Another experiment…digging back into the September archives.  Taken quickly while walking behind them, and forgot to change my shutter speed.  The original image was a total blackout, and pushed 4.5 stops in post-processing.  Obviously very grainy as a result, but worked out well in B&W.

I’m surprised no one has commented on this one yet. Everything works here: the starburst effect over the edge of your wife’s swaying hair, baby J’s focused expression on you (and, by extension, us), and the wonderful composition that manages to *just barely* save baby J’s fingers within the frame.

I’m glad you dug this one out and persevered with it!

      Thanks Peter.

In truth, I must confess I didn’t see much in this photo initially…it was The Producer that convinced me it was worth trying to salvage!

Mark, this is one of the best photos on your website. It seems you have to listen more The Producer’s suggestions 😉 But seriously, great shot.

      Thanks Ondra,

I knew the shot was something special when I captured it, but the exposure was so off (and it was so grainy as a result…) that I really didn’t bother to tweak it too much farther.

If nothing else, I guess a lesson on what you can pull off if you convert to B&W!

      All the best, M.
