Very nice Mark….I like it. Did you upgrade the viewfinder in this M6 to reduce the “flare” issue? If so did it work and how much did it cost? Curious more than anything.

Also if you haven’t grab role of Fuji Pro400H. Sort of like Fuji’s answer to Portra 400…..

      Hey Andy!

I did upgrade the viewfinder through Youxin Ye…total cost was $280 + shipping. He switched to the “MP Flare resistant optics” and also put AR glass on the two front windows. He also tweaked the vertical alignment. To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t actually like how the viewfinder behaves now!! (I can’t quite put my finger on why…) it is bright, but I’m not sure I would actually pick “now” vs “then” (if that makes sense…)

Regardless, I would definitely recommend Youxin for any maintenance work though…great fellow.

As far as the 400H goes, I have previously shot with it, and do like it–the 160H is particularly nice as well.

      Hope you’re well,
      M.

mmmm….so do you think it’s the vertical alignment part or the actual changes to glass and AR additions? Would have been interesting if just an MP viewfinder was put into it and that was that!

I’m not buying an M6. Was just curious given you mentioned it and had always considered doing this whilst I did own the M6. To be honest in the past week trying get back in groove a bit and first thing I want to pick up is Mamiya 7…..:-) Mark…..you NEED one of these…:-) You can tell The Producer I said that!!

I’ll try to tell her Andy…but she may not listen to me.

      🙂

(Hard to say on the M6–I don’t have the MP to compare it with any more, but my impression is that the upgraded M6 finder is still harder to use than the actual MP was. Perhaps I’m imagining things…that’s always possible!)
