The Last Three

…and then, only blackness.

The first-curtain shutter on the M8 failed, and won’t open.  It is presently on it’s way back to Leica, where hopefully they will have parts, and the repair will be speedy.

It is too pivotal an instrument not to repair…

Nice series, Mark, and I love the suspense you built up! Glad to see it can be repaired. Let us know how it goes.

Unfortunately still too early to say if repair is possible—there were rumours circulating that Leica was “out” of shutters—certainly so on LCDs and sensors, so we will have to see.

      Will keep y’all posted…

I was at an op-shop once and they had a Pentax P-30 with a stuck shutter. It wasn’t the battery, so I looked it up. It turns out that this is a common problem with the P-30, but all you have to do is give the shutter a nudge with your finger and it works again. So I bought the camera. 🙂
