The Watchful Eye(s)

WatchfulEye-8

More Velvia on the Hassy.

Now the question is: Whooo was watching whooom? ( ← you see what I did there??)

WatchfulEye-9

Yes, I know it’s not perfectly composed, but sometimes you just have to take the shot before she notices.  (The Owl, I mean…)

Distressed.

Distressed

…You would be too if a polar bear was about to eat you!

Velvia 100, lab-developed.

Last roll through the Hassy before it moved on…couple more shots to follow.

(NB: No polar bears OR children were harmed in the making of this photo).

Scenery

Scenery-1

A random collection of images from the remainder of the weekend.

I missed critical focus quite a bit–especially at f/2.8 (and with a moving target!)

I think I am going blind–it is amazing how much harder a ground glass (SLR, waist-level finder, etc…) is to focus than a rangefinder!

Anyway, this is a selection of the salvaged–I hope you enjoy.

My MF Experiment

MFV-1

I kind of doubled-down on MF this weekend:

Fortunately, we were able to enjoy a brief winter escape.

At the risk of provoking the ire of The Producer, I took only the Hasselblad, and A16 back.

Yup.

Just us, and some MF film.

(Well, I guess we had our iPhones…)

In any case, my friend Bijan has done something similar before, so I can’t take all the credit…but we did get home tonight, and I now have two rolls developed.

…Look forward to some photos in the days to come.

(and now for all the scanning…ugh!)

All the best,

-Mark

What Owl?

WhatOwl-1

If there was an owl in these images (which there obviously isn’t…)

It would probably be “our” new friend Owie.  The Owl.

First one is Portra 400 shot at ISO 800 (some magenta shadows–this is pre-development epiphany)

Second is M9

Third is Hassy on Tri-X 400 at ISO 800
